The Tula SKS 1955/56 model is a rarity among firearms, a semi-auto rifle with a rich history and strong performance. Manufactured by the renowned Tula Arms Company in Russia, this model is a testament to the ingenuity and craftsmanship of Cold War-era firearms. This particular SKS is a last year production model, indicated by a small star on the left side of the receiver behind the serial number. It has been sporterized, with a Monte-Carlo stock replacing the original, and an extended capacity of 35+1, a significant upgrade from the standard 10 rounds.
The SKS is in fair condition, showing signs of extensive use and handling. The finish wear is visible on the barrel, receiver, and trigger group, with rust present on the bolt handle and inside the front sight ring. Despite this, the gun is in good working order, with a good bore condition and a reliable gas piston action. It's equipped with a sporterized walnut wood stock, a "Cheese Grater" handguard, and a detachable Archangel 35rd magazine. Unfortunately, the stock is not a flush fit and the cuts are rough, indicating the extent of the sporterization.
The original dust cover takedown latch and rear sight have been replaced with a Picatinny rail, held in place by bolts.
The Tula SKS 1955/56 offers a unique blend of historical value and performance. Its 7.62x39 caliber offers a balance of power and manageable recoil, while its black enamel finish provides a striking aesthetic and protection against the elements. This is a firearm that tells a story, a piece of history that you can hold in your hands. Don't miss out on the opportunity to own this unique and historic firearm.
