Experience the perfect blend of history and functionality with this Sako M27 bolt-action rifle. This isn’t just a firearm; it's a piece of history. Manufactured between 1929 and 1935, the M27 was the first domestic-designed Finnish infantry rifle and the most common infantry rifle issued for front-line troops during the Winter War (1939-40). It comes with a Tikka-made barrel and an importer stamp on the muzzle end of the barrel. Note, this barrel does not have a date stamped on the barrel shank; a common feature of Tikka-made barrels for the Finnish Mosin-Nagant line.
The rifle shows extensive signs of prior use and handling, but is in fair condition and good working order.
The M27 features an original oiled birch wood stock with fullered handguard, metal buttplate, and pre-war escutcheon plates. Its bore condition is excellent, showing visible rifling and somewhat shiny, but moderate fouling is visible. The finish is blued, which offers some resistance against rust and corrosion. Noticeable is the heavy finish wear on the barrel, receiver, magazine/trigger guard, and bolt. However, the original cosmoline is still visible in hard-to-reach places such as the bolt assembly, rear and front sights, and inside the chamber.
The wood has many minor dents and scratches, adding to its vintage appeal.
The Sako M27 is chambered in the powerful 7.62x54R caliber, a staple munition of the Russian military at that time and widely used across many countries today. With a modest magazine capacity of 5 rounds, the M27 offers a good balance of power and control. The rear adjustable Konovalov-style leaf U notch and front adjustable dovetail shrouded blade ensure accuracy with every shot. Please note, the cleaning rod is not included in the sale.
Owning this firearm is akin to owning a piece of history. The Sako M27 is more than just a gun; it's a testament to the remarkable gunsmithing skill of the era, and the reliability and accuracy that bolt-action rifles are renowned for.
