The Interarms Model 1911A1 Silver Cup is a historical piece with roots stretching back to the early 20th century. This firearm is a testament to the genius of John Moses Browning, the iconic designer who made it. Adopted by the U.S. military during World War I, the original 1911 underwent modifications in the 1920s to become the 1911A1.
In good overall condition, it shows some signs of prior use and handling. The firearm is chambered in .45 ACP caliber, recognized for its stopping power. The parkerized finish provides durability and corrosion resistance, although it has worn over time to give the metal a pleasing brown over parkerized patina. The gun's action is single action only (SAO), meaning the trigger only releases the hammer, while the gun must be manually cocked for the first shot. With a 7+1 capacity, it can hold seven rounds in the magazine, plus one in the chamber.
Furthermore, the firearm comes with two 7 rd mags.
Of particular interest is the history of this 1911. After WWII, many 1911's sold by the U.S. Government to allied countries lay unused. In the 1960-70's, Interarms of Virginia purchased most of the unused stock, mainly Remington Rand and aimed to re-import them into the U.S. However, they were not allowed to import the frames, so they were stripped of parts and reworked at Interarms with new frames provided by Essex.
This model was modeled after the USGI 1911 and is equipped with its original High Standard barrel.
The Interarms 1911A1 Silver Cup stands as an impressive choice for enthusiasts and collectors due to its excellent craftsmanship and rich history. Its .45 ACP caliber provides powerful stopping power praised in home defense and sport shooting. The Parkerized finish guarantees resistance against wear and corrosion, while the 7+1 capacity ensures continuous protection. The stripped-down simplicity of the SAO (Single Action Only) highlights the 1911's military heritage and offers an unrivaled, crisp trigger-pull which appeals greatly to precision shooters. This model is much more than just a firearm; it's a piece of history that commands respect and offers robust performance.
