Introducing the Tula M91 "Peter The Great" Pattern rifle, a distinguished piece of military history with a unique and elegant charm. This remarkable weapon is a must-have for Russian surplus collectors, and its rich history and superior craftsmanship will appeal to any Mosin collector. The rifle shows signs of prior use and handling, evidence of its service throughout the years; however, it remains in good overall condition. The sale includes the original late-pattern stained arctic birch wood stock with Type-4 sling slots, steel crossbolt, fullered handguard, and a metal buttplate.
The Tula M91 "Peter The Great" Pattern rifle boasts a 31.5" barrel, a bolt-action mechanism, and a 5rd capacity. It features an early-pattern low-wall hex receiver with a stepped tang, an early-pattern stripper clip slot, and a desirable feed ramp. The receiver is non-refurbished, as indicated by the "white" (non-blued) bolt channel. The buttplate and trigger guard are force-matched, indicating light refurbishment. The wood stock displays typical handling/storage wear for being over 99 years old, but the blued metal remains completely intact with minor rust and pitting visible.
Named after the famed Russian leader, this rifle was manufactured at the Tula Armory in Russia in 1915, an establishment known for producing some of the best and most iconic weapons in the world. The M91 model is a variation of the Mosin-Nagant rifles, which were extensively used by Russian forces throughout World War I and II. Chambered in 7.62x54R caliber, one of the oldest military cartridges still in regular combat service, this rifle is not only an effective firearm but also a relic of the Great War period.
Despite some minor rust and pitting visible on the receiver and barrel, and a slightly rusted bolt, the rifle remains in fair/good condition. The bore is neglected, but the rifling is clearly visible. This rifle is not merely a firearm; it's a piece of history, a collector's item with immense historical value. Adding the Tula M91 "Peter The Great" Pattern to your collection is a decision you'll cherish for years to come.
