Marlin Model 99M1 .22 LR Semi-Automatic Rifle – 1969 Micro-Groove, M1 Carbine-Style
Produced in 1969, this Marlin Model 99M1 blends the proven Model 60 action with styling cues from the U.S. M1 Carbine. Its 18-inch Micro-Groove barrel, 9-shot tubular magazine, and walnut stock with matching hand-guard give it both practical utility and collector appeal. Fewer than 160,000 were made between 1964 and 1978, making this example a scarcer find than the standard Model 60.

What’s Included
- Marlin Model 99M1 semi-automatic rifle
The “69” serial prefix confirms 1969 production, placing this rifle among the first Marlins to carry a serial number after the 1968 Gun Control Act mandate. Collectors value this transitional detail, as earlier rimfires were not required to be serialized.
Mechanically, the rifle uses the same reliable blow-back action as the Model 60 family, fed by a 9-shot under-barrel tubular magazine. The action cycles standard-velocity .22 LR ammunition smoothly, thanks in part to the polished blue steel finish that reduces friction.
The 18-inch Micro-Groove barrel features 16 shallow rifling lands, promoting excellent accuracy with minimal lead buildup. A blade front sight and receiver-mounted open/peep rear sight provide a clear sight picture, while the receiver is grooved for tip-off rimfire scope mounts if optics are desired.
A walnut stock and matching top hand-guard emulate the look of the wartime M1 Carbine. The barrel band, sling swivels, and black plastic buttplate with white-line spacer complete the classic carbine aesthetic. A gold-tone alloy trigger shoe and cross-bolt safety round out the controls.
