Tortort TT58 vz. 58 P-Pattern Semi-Automatic Rifle, 7.62x39, 16 in. Nitrided Barrel, Milled Receiver
This Tortort TT58 is a semi-automatic, U.S.-made recreation of the Czech vz. 58 built from an original 1959 ‘she 59’ parts kit on a new milled 4140 steel receiver. It retains the short-stroke piston action, distinctive composite ‘beaver-barf’ furniture, and bayonet rail while adding 922(r) compliance and a nitrided, parkerized 16-inch barrel with a detachable three-port brake. Matching receiver and kit serials, intact military markings, and surplus phenolic furniture give the rifle an authentic service-grade look paired with modern build quality.

The heart of this rifle is Tortort’s milled 4140 steel receiver, manufactured in Huntington Beach, California, and stamped with the original ‘she 59’ markings for historical continuity. The receiver matches the parts-kit serial, preserving collectability while delivering modern reliability.
A 16-inch nitrided and parkerized steel barrel is threaded and comes equipped with a detachable three-port muzzle brake. This setup maintains the classic profile while providing readily accessible suppression or muzzle-device options.
The rifle retains the vz. 58’s proven gas-operated, short-stroke piston system with a tilting-block bolt, offering clean operation and dependable cycling with standard 7.62×39 ammunition. A left-side safety/selector lever keeps manual controls familiar to vz. 58 users.
Surplus Czech phenolic composite furniture—often called ‘beaver-barf’—includes a fixed stock with 13-inch length of pull, matching handguards, and a pistol grip. The reddish-brown finish and textured surface add authenticity and durability.
Original military iron sights remain intact: a hooded front post and a tangent rear notch adjustable from 200 to 800 meters. Bayonet rail and sling rings are also present, rounding out the rifle’s field-ready configuration.
