Marlin Model 55 Goose Gun 12 Gauge Bolt-Action Shotgun, 36 in Full-Choke Barrel, 1974 Production
The Marlin Model 55 Goose Gun is known for its extra-long 36-inch full-choke barrel and uncommon bolt-action design. Built in North Haven, Connecticut in 1974, this full-size 12-gauge was engineered for long-range pass-shooting on migrating geese. Its detachable magazine (not present) originally kept capacity within federal waterfowl limits, while the Monte Carlo walnut or birch stock and gold-colored trigger give it a distinctive, era-correct look.

What’s Included
- Marlin Model 55 Goose Gun bolt-action shotgun (no magazine)
The 36-inch barrel is one of the longest factory shotgun tubes offered after World War II, giving this gun notable reach for waterfowl or varmint work over open fields.
Its bolt-action layout sets it apart from the more common pump and semi-auto shotguns, offering simple operation and solid lock-up that many shooters appreciate for precision pass-shooting.
A two-position thumb safety sits at the rear of the bolt for intuitive on-off control, while the gold-colored trigger adds a period-correct visual detail.
The Monte Carlo stock with ventilated recoil pad and sling-swivel studs was designed for comfortable shouldering and convenient field carry, reflecting Marlin’s practical approach during its peak independence years.
