Brescia Arsenal Mod. 91/38 Short Rifle, Sporterized 6.5 Carcano Bolt-Action – 18" Gain-Twist Barrel
Built at the F.N.A. Brescia arsenal in 1940 (Fascist year XVIII), this Mod. 91/38 started life as a standard Italian service rifle and was later sporter-modified for lighter field use. It retains its blued steel receiver and uncommon gain-twist rifling while now wearing a shortened 18-inch barrel and trimmed hardwood stock. Collectors will note the arsenal markings, wartime provenance, and the rifle’s link to the historically significant Carcano family.

What’s Included
- 6-round Carcano steel en-bloc clip
Stamped “F.N.A. BRESCIA” with the date code “40-XVIII,” this rifle represents Italy’s WWII production, adding historical depth for collectors and researchers.
The barrel has been professionally cut to 18 inches while retaining the original gain-twist rifling that Carcano rifles are known for, giving the shooter a lighter, handier profile without losing the system’s hallmark internal ballistics.
A sporter-cut hardwood stock with a 12-inch length of pull replaces the original full-length furniture, shaving weight and eliminating the upper handguard. The oil finish keeps the wood sealed and ready for continued field use.
The split rear-bridge bolt action feeds from the classic 6-round Mannlicher en-bloc clip, ejecting the clip automatically after the last round. A fixed 200-meter V-notch rear sight pairs with a band-mounted front blade, maintaining simple, rugged sighting.
With its wartime markings, gain-twist barrel, and practical sporter work, this Mod. 91/38 offers both historical significance and a unique shooting experience for the Carcano enthusiast.
