Springfield Model 84-C .22 LR Bolt-Action Rifle, 24" Barrel, Pre-1968 Production
This Springfield Model 84-C is a World War II–era utility bolt gun built to run .22 Short, .22 Long, and .22 Long Rifle cartridges. Made between 1939 and 1948, it carries the “Springfield” trade name that Stevens/Savage retired in 1948 and is exempt from a serial-number requirement. The rifle’s simple, reliable action, 24-inch barrel, and hardwood stock reflect the cost-conscious design of 1940s American rimfires.

What’s Included
- Springfield Model 84-C bolt-action rifle (magazine not included)
The Model 84-C was one of Stevens’ most popular budget rimfires of the 1940s. Its bolt lifts smoothly, and the striker-based design keeps parts count low for easy maintenance.
A 24-inch blued barrel gives maximum velocity from .22 LR while retaining the handiness expected of a small-bore field rifle. The dovetail front blade and step-elevator rear sight provide a clear, adjustable iron-sight picture for target or small-game work.
The chamber accepts .22 Short, Long, and Long Rifle interchangeably, making the rifle flexible for varied ammunition availability. Without a magazine, it functions as a single-shot; replacement magazines that interchange with Savage/Stevens 4C/56C/85C rifles are readily sourced if desired.
The hardwood stock features a pistol grip, checkered panels for a positive hold, and pre-installed sling-swivel studs—practical touches for field carry. At 13.5 inches, the length of pull suits most adult shooters while remaining manageable for younger enthusiasts.
