Marlin Glenfield Model 60 .22 LR Semi-Automatic Rifle, 22" Micro-Groove Barrel, 1978 Production
Produced in 1978, this Glenfield-marked Marlin Model 60 represents the pre-1983 configuration with a longer 22-inch barrel and a 15-round tubular magazine. It carries Marlin’s 16-groove Micro-Groove rifling, an aluminum-alloy receiver drilled with 3/8-inch tip-off scope grooves, and a birch Monte Carlo stock. Over 11 million Model 60 rifles have been made, and this early example offers the classic features that helped earn the platform its reputation for reliable rimfire performance.

What’s Included
- Marlin Glenfield Model 60 .22 LR rifle
This rifle features Marlin’s Micro-Groove rifling, using 16 shallow grooves to reduce fouling and maintain accuracy with high-volume shooting. The 22-inch steel barrel delivers increased sight radius and velocity compared with later, shorter-barreled variants.
The fixed tubular magazine holds 15 rounds of .22 LR, plus one in the chamber, providing ample capacity without external magazines. Loading is quick through the forward-locking magazine rod.
The receiver is machined from lightweight aluminum alloy and finished in black oxide. Factory-cut 3/8-inch grooves allow direct mounting of rimfire scopes or rings without additional bases.
Sights consist of a serrated steel ramp front blade and an elevation-adjustable open leaf rear, giving a clear iron-sight picture. A cross-bolt safety sits conveniently behind the trigger guard.
The birch hardwood stock uses a Monte Carlo comb for comfortable cheek weld with optics and pressed checkering for grip. The overall package reflects the utilitarian Glenfield line marketed through major retailers in the 1970s.
