What’s Included
- Nagoya Arsenal Arisaka Type 99 Short Rifle (serial 90843, series kana prefix)
The 25-inch chrome-lined barrel resists corrosion and reflects the Japanese push for battlefield durability during WWII. This feature was only standard on early Type 99 production, making it a key point of distinction.
The tangent rear sight retains its fold-out anti-aircraft wings, a hallmark Type 99 feature that remains intact on this rifle. The inverted-V front post with protective ears completes the sight picture.
Its two-piece scarf-joint hardwood stock wears the reddish-brown urushi lacquer typical of Nagoya production. Grasping grooves and a monopod lug are present, though the monopod itself is absent.
The strong, Mauser-influenced Type 99 action incorporates a knurled safety knob. Despite later war expediencies, Nagoya’s metallurgy standards provide a solid, reliable bolt-action platform.
Collectors will note the ground chrysanthemum indicating surrender status, adding clear historical context without affecting mechanical integrity. The drilled and tapped barrel suggests post-war sporting adaptation, yet all major military features remain.
