Winchester Model 1912 12 Gauge Pump Shotgun, 28" Nickel Steel Barrel, 1915 Production, Fancy Walnut Stock
Early-production Winchester Model 1912 shotguns are prized for their slick action, nickel-steel barrels, and pre-Model 12 roll-mark. This 1915 example combines those hallmark features with uncommon factory fancy-grade walnut furniture and a takedown design that breaks down quickly for transport. The fixed Modified choke, 5+1 capacity, and period-correct brass bead sight keep it ready for the field or the rack.

The serial number in the 83,000 range places production in 1915, four years before Winchester changed the model designation to “Model 12.” The left side of the barrel retains the early “Nickel Steel” marking, a metallurgy Winchester later replaced, making these barrels desirable to collectors.
This gun wears a 28-inch nickel-steel barrel with a factory Modified choke, offering balanced shot patterns for upland game or clays. The takedown system lets the barrel and magazine tube separate from the receiver with a simple half-turn, easing cleaning and transport.
The fancy-grade walnut buttstock shows bold figure, sharp checkering, and ebony diamond inlays—features rarely seen on standard field guns. An aftermarket White Line Gun Works ventilated recoil pad extends the length of pull to 14 inches while softening recoil.
The internal-hammer slide action that earned the Model 1912 the nickname “The Perfect Repeater” remains smooth and positive. Its blued carbon-steel receiver and matching 14-groove walnut fore-end present a classic appearance consistent with Winchester’s pre-WWI craftsmanship.
