Mauser C96 “Red 9” Prussian Contract 9 mm, Numbers-Matching with Stock Holster – WWI German Semi-Auto Pistol
Manufactured between 1916 and 1918 for the Prussian Army, this Mauser C96 “Red 9” stands out for its complete numbers-matching status—including the wooden shoulder stock/holster—and its iconic red “9” grip markings that confirm 9 mm Luger chambering. Fewer than 137,000 of these wartime contract pistols were produced, making an all-original, matching example like this one a rare find for collectors.

- Serial-number-matching wooden shoulder stock/holster
This Red 9 retains its factory “New Safety” hammer, marked “NS,” and the Crown/U proof along with a Prussian acceptance eagle on the frame—clear indicators of its military contract origin.
The pistol features the standard 5.5-inch carbon-steel barrel feeding from an integral 10-round internal magazine, loaded via stripper clip. A heel slot and lanyard ring allow quick attachment of the included stock, converting the pistol into a carbine-style platform when desired.
Original 24-groove walnut grips bear the prominent red-painted “9,” applied at the factory to prevent 9 mm ammunition mix-ups with 7.63 mm Mauser variants on the front lines.
All visible serial numbers match—including internal components, stock iron, and stock lids—substantially increasing this firearm’s collectibility and value.
