Smith & Wesson Model 2206 Stainless Field .22 LR, 6" Barrel, TFF Prefix – Very Good Condition
The Smith & Wesson Model 2206 Stainless Field is a full-size, all-stainless .22 LR single-action pistol produced only in the mid-1990s. This late-production example carries the “TFF” serial prefix (1995–96) and features a 6-inch fixed, slab-sided barrel with an over-barrel recoil spring that lowers the bore axis for improved control. Discontinued in 1996, the 2206 represents the final evolution of S&W’s 22xx rimfire line, making surviving specimens in this condition increasingly hard to find.

- (1) 10-round factory steel magazine with witness holes
- Smith & Wesson blue cardboard pistol box
The 6-inch barrel is slab-sided and fluted, giving the pistol a rigid profile while shaving unnecessary weight from its 39-ounce stainless frame. The barrel is fixed to the receiver, enhancing accuracy and keeping the sights firmly in line with the bore.
An over-barrel recoil spring system allows the slide to ride low on the frame, resulting in a notably low bore axis. Combined with the all-steel weight, this design helps keep muzzle movement to a minimum during rapid strings of fire.
Controls are straightforward: a single-action trigger with a serrated face, ambidextrous thumb safety, heel-style magazine release, and internal hammer. Built-in safety features include a magazine disconnect and firing pin block.
Sights consist of a pinned Patridge-style front blade and an adjustable square-notch rear, offering a clear sight picture for precision rimfire work. Black one-piece polymer grip panels wrap securely around the frame and balance the stainless construction with a comfortable in-hand feel.
With production ending in 1996, late-run TFF-prefix pistols like this one mark the end of S&W’s 22xx architecture, giving collectors a final snapshot of the company’s robust stainless rimfire lineage.
