What’s Included
- Remington Model 742 Woodsmaster rifle
- 1 factory 4-round detachable steel magazine
Remington introduced the Model 742 to give hunters a reliable, fast-cycling semi-automatic chambered in full-power cartridges. The gas system shares architecture with the Model 1100 shotgun, contributing to its smooth recoil impulse and dependable feeding.
This rifle’s receiver left the factory drilled and tapped, allowing easy mounting of scopes without gunsmithing. Standard open sights remain in place: a ramp front with dovetailed blade and a barrel-mounted rear leaf, giving shooters sighting flexibility.
The walnut stock and fore-end feature impressed checkering, a pistol-grip profile, and factory sling-swivel studs. At 13.5" length of pull, it suits most adult shooters, while the gloss lacquer protects the wood and highlights its grain.
Marked with Remington’s oval "R E P" proof, the blued carbon-steel components exhibit classic 1960s workmanship. The rifle accepts not only the included 4-round magazine but also hard-to-find factory 10- and 20-round magazines, adding versatility for collectors and shooters alike.
