1958-1959 Jianshe Arsenal Type 56 SKS /26\ “No-Characters” 7.62x39 Semi-Automatic Rifle
This early-production Type 56 comes from Jianshe Arsenal’s sought-after 3-million serial block, built before Chinese SKS rifles began using stamped parts. All-milled construction, an in-the-white bolt group, and the rare absence of Chinese characters on the receiver make this 1958–1959 example a standout for collectors who track factory transitions and first-generation features.

Stamped “CJA SFLD MI,” this import retains the attributes collectors look for in a Factory /26\ Type 56: milled receiver cover and trigger group, long finger-groove hardwood stock, and side-mount sling swivels. The red-brown shellac remains even and complete, complementing the rifle’s bright bolt, carrier, and folding spike bayonet.
As a transitional model, it pairs early features—such as the three-slot wooden handguard and under-barrel bayonet lug—with later side-sling hardware. These details mark the brief window when Jianshe was refining the design yet still machining every major component.
The tangent rear sight is graduated to 1000 meters, while the hooded front post adjusts for both elevation and windage. A 10-round fixed magazine feeds via stripper clips, backed by the proven short-stroke gas piston system that made the SKS platform reliable in harsh field conditions.
