Browning BAR-22 Grade I .22 LR Semi-Automatic Rifle, 20.25-Inch Barrel, 1983 Miroku Production
This 1983 Browning BAR-22 Grade I delivers the classic look of Browning’s center-fire BAR in a light, rimfire package. Built by Miroku in Japan, it features the post-1982 alloy receiver that trims weight without sacrificing strength. Fewer than 60,000 BAR-22s were ever produced, and production ended in 1985, making this example both collectible and increasingly hard to find.

What’s Included
- Browning BAR-22 Grade I .22 LR semi-automatic rifle
Manufactured under Browning’s supervision by Miroku, this rifle bears the PX serial prefix that confirms 1983 production. The Grade I configuration features a plain, high-polish blued alloy receiver paired with a gloss-finished walnut stock. Straight-grip geometry and cut checkering give the rifle a streamlined, traditional appearance.
The 20.25-inch barrel teams with a 1-in-16-inch right-hand twist to stabilize standard and high-velocity .22 LR loads. A 15-round tubular magazine feeds the simple, blowback action, with an extra round possible in the chamber for a total capacity of 16.
Sighting equipment remains true to the original design: a ramped post front sight and a folding, adjustable rear leaf. The receiver is not drilled or tapped, preserving factory lines and historical accuracy for collectors who value originality.
Controls are familiar and intuitive. A cross-bolt safety sits just aft of the trigger guard, and the 13.75-inch length of pull suits most adult shooters. Overall, this Grade I balances collectibility, shootability, and the unmistakable styling cues of Browning’s larger BAR series.
