Product Description

    Winchester Model 1400 Mk II 12 Gauge Semi-Auto Shotgun, 28" Full Choke, 2 + 1, 2 3/4" Chamber

The Winchester Model 1400 Mk II is the second-generation version of Winchester’s first gas-operated autoloader, built in the United States from 1968 to 1972. This example pairs a 28" steel barrel with a factory-fixed FULL choke and a lightweight polished-blued aluminum receiver, trimming weight compared to earlier steel-receiver designs. A two-round tubular magazine meets migratory-bird limits without a plug, and the Mk II’s revised gas system later influenced the Super X line. Collectors and hunters alike will note the clean bore, period-correct proof marks, and richly finished walnut furniture.

    Condition

Overall Condition: Good condition, showing some signs of prior use and handling.

Bore Condition: Good - Clean, well-maintained, minor wear marks.

Specific Condition Notes: The metal surfaces show scattered marks and scratches, and the walnut stock and fore-end display a few small dings.

    What’s Included

    • Winchester Model 1400 Mk II 12 Gauge semi-automatic shotgun

The 28" barrel is equipped with Winchester’s factory-machined FULL choke, delivering tight patterns without the need for screw-in tubes. Chambered for 2 3/4" shells, the gun handles traditional field loads smoothly through its gas-operated action.

An aluminum-alloy receiver keeps overall weight manageable while retaining Winchester’s polished-blue finish for a classic appearance. Winchester “WP” proof marks remain clear on both barrel and receiver.

The Mk II gas system was redesigned for greater reliability and reduced felt recoil, a configuration that informed later Winchester autoloaders. Combined with a ventilated recoil pad and 14" length of pull, the shotgun offers comfortable handling for extended upland or marsh days.

Gloss-varnished walnut furniture features factory checkering on the pistol-grip stock and matching fore-end, providing secure purchase even with gloved hands. A simple front bead tops the plain barrel, keeping the sight picture uncluttered.

Produced only between 1968 and 1972, the Mk II variant enjoys a short production window, adding collectible appeal alongside its practical field credentials.
