Browning Gold Hunter 12 Gauge Semi-Auto Shotgun, 28″ Vent Rib, 3″ Chamber, Invector-Plus Chokes
First-year production (1994) Browning Gold Hunter built with a Belgian-made, Portugal-assembled receiver and barrel. This early example features Browning’s gas-operated Active Valve system, a 28-inch back-bored Invector-Plus barrel, and a gold-plated trigger that matches the “Gold Hunter” roll-mark on the receiver. Its lightweight alloy receiver, gloss-finished walnut furniture, and threaded choke system make it a versatile field gun with collectible launch-year appeal.

This Gold Hunter sits in the early serial range that launched the platform, giving it added interest for Browning enthusiasts. The Belgian barrel is back-bored and threaded for Invector-Plus chokes, enhancing pattern performance with both 2¾″ and 3″ shells.
Browning’s one-piece Active Valve piston automatically meters gas, delivering reliable cycling across a wide range of loads and keeping fouling out of the action. The result is smooth operation with reduced felt recoil in a shotgun that weighs just over 7½ pounds.
The 28″ steel barrel wears a gloss blued finish, vent rib, and a single front bead for a clear sight picture. A factory magazine plug limits capacity to 2+1 for migratory bird compliance, and it can be removed where local regulations allow 4+1 rounds.
A satin black anodized aluminum receiver keeps weight down while showcasing the “Gold Hunter” script in gold. American black walnut furniture features cut checkering, a ventilated recoil pad, and sling-swivel studs for easy carry in the field.
