Ruger Mini Thirty 189-Series Pre-Ban Stainless 7.62x39 Semi-Automatic Rifle – 1993 Production
This 1993 Ruger Mini Thirty is an early 189-series, pre-ban example chambered in 7.62x39. Built with a matte stainless steel barrel and receiver, a reliable short-stroke gas piston, and a straight hardwood stock, it combines classic Mini-14 styling with the hard-hitting Soviet cartridge. The rifle retains Ruger’s original non-folding ghost-ring rear sight and integral scope-ring bases, and comes with both standard and extended magazines plus Ruger stainless scope rings.

Produced in the final year before the 1994 Federal Assault Weapons Ban, this Mini Thirty is legally classified as pre-ban, allowing use of original high-capacity magazines where permitted. The 189-prefix serial number confirms 1993 manufacture.
The rifle features an 18.5" stainless barrel with a 1:10" right-hand twist optimized for the 7.62x39 cartridge. Ruger’s investment-cast stainless receiver provides integral scope-ring cuts, giving shooters an easy, rock-solid optic mounting option without additional bases.
A light brown satin hardwood stock offers a 12.5" length of pull, sling swivel studs, and traditional straight-stock ergonomics. The ventilated black polymer upper handguard aids cooling during rapid fire while preserving the rifle’s classic profile.
Iron sights include a ramped blade front and Ruger’s original receiver-mounted adjustable ghost-ring rear, favored for its durability and quick target acquisition. The short-stroke gas piston system is known for running clean and reliably with both commercial and surplus ammunition.
