The 22" carbon-steel barrel retains its original blued finish and is topped with iron sights—a hoodless ramped front blade and a drift-adjustable folding rear leaf—offering a clear sight picture for field use. Factory-drilled scope holes were not yet standard on this production year, preserving the clean receiver profile.
Furniture is solid walnut with cut diamond checkering on the stock and a grooved fore-end for positive grip. An aftermarket NOSHOC recoil pad brings length of pull to 14.25", softening felt recoil while maintaining a traditional look.
Inside, the rifle uses Remington’s distinctive 19-lug rotating bolt, a design that locks securely yet cycles quickly with the pump action. The detachable 4-round magazine is compatible with the Model 742, making spare magazines easy to source.
All critical components—receiver, barrel, and internal parts—are machined from carbon steel and finished in Remington’s deep blue.
