Ruger Vaquero Large-Frame Old Model .45 Colt Revolver, 7.5-Inch Barrel, 1994 Production
Produced in 1994, this early large-frame Ruger Vaquero combines Blackhawk-level strength with classic Old West styling. Built to handle heavy “Ruger-only” .45 Colt loads, it features the longest factory barrel Ruger offered for the Vaquero line, giving it a generous sight radius and full ballistic potential. The faux color-case frame finish, discontinued on later runs, adds period-correct appeal.

What’s Included
- Ruger Vaquero Large-Frame Old Model .45 Colt revolver
This revolver is part of the first 11,000 Vaqueros produced, with serial prefix 55 marking its early place in the line. Ruger used its robust Blackhawk frame for these initial “Old Model” Vaqueros, allowing safe use of high-pressure handloads that exceed traditional SAAMI .45 Colt limits.
The 7.5-inch alloy-steel barrel maximizes velocity and provides a steady sight picture through the fixed blade front and top-strap groove rear sights. That longer tube also balances the full-size frame for a steady hold.
Ruger’s transfer-bar safety permits safe carry with all six chambers loaded—an advantage over many traditional single-actions. The single-action hammer offers the crisp, familiar break collectors expect, while the smooth hardwood grips with Ruger eagle medallions fill the hand securely.
Both frame and receiver wear Ruger’s distinctive color-case finish, paired with a deep blued cylinder for a classic two-tone look. All visible metal surfaces show only the lightest handling marks, preserving its 1990s factory appearance.
