Thompson/Center Hawken .45 Cal Percussion Muzzleloader – 28" Octagonal Barrel, Walnut Stock, Double-Set Triggers
This early-production Thompson/Center Hawken brings the classic mountain-rifle profile to a reliable 1970s reproduction. Made in the USA, it features a blued 28-inch octagonal barrel with a versatile 1:48 twist, a walnut stock with raised cheek-piece, and factory double-set triggers that were uncommon when first offered. What’s Included
- Thompson/Center Hawken .45 caliber percussion rifle
The 28-inch blued steel barrel is secured by a traditional hooked breech, making cleaning and transport straightforward. Its 1:48 twist rate stabilizes both round ball and conical projectiles, offering flexibility for target shooting or hunting.
A walnut stock with a raised cheek-piece provides a solid, comfortable shooting position. Brass furniture, including a functional patch box, complements the classic Hawken styling while adding practical on-board storage for cleaning patches or spare caps.
Factory double-set triggers allow the shooter to choose a standard trigger pull or break the shot with a light, crisp second stage—an uncommon feature on early T/C Hawkens. The external percussion hammer wears factory scroll engraving, lending a subtle decorative touch without sacrificing durability.
Iron sights consist of a dovetailed blued front blade and an elevation-adjustable semi-buckhorn rear, giving a clear sight picture and easy zero adjustments. An early low five-digit serial number (12581) places this rifle among the first production runs, enhancing its appeal to collectors of modern black-powder arms.
