Winchester Model 62A Pump-Action .22 Rifle | 1958 Production, Slam-Fire Capable
Produced in 1958, this Winchester Model 62A represents one of the final four thousand rifles made before the line ended. The takedown design, smooth pump action, and ability to fire .22 Short, .22 Long, and .22 Long Rifle cartridges make it a versatile rimfire classic. Collectors will note its slam-fire capable trigger, oil-finished walnut furniture, and period-correct blued steel throughout.

What’s Included
- Winchester Model 62A pump-action rifle
This late-production 62A retains the original 23-inch carbon-steel barrel and blued receiver, both marked with Winchester “WP” proofs. The full-length magazine holds 14 rounds of .22 LR (or 18 rounds of .22 Short), giving it ample capacity for range sessions or small-game use.
The action is the classic Winchester exposed-hammer pump with no disconnector, allowing controlled slam-fire operation when the trigger is held back while cycling. This feature, unchanged from its Browning Model 1890 roots, offers rapid follow-up shots rare in modern rimfires.
Its takedown mechanism uses a single captive screw, enabling quick separation of barrel/magazine from the receiver for transport or cleaning. Despite the lightweight design, the 13.25-inch length of pull and straight-grip walnut stock provide a solid, comfortable shoulder fit.
Factory open sights include a dovetailed blade front and a semi-buckhorn rear with stepped elevator, giving the shooter straightforward elevation adjustments. The ribbed walnut forend offers a positive grip during rapid cycling.
As a 1958 example with all the hallmark features intact, this Model 62A combines late-series collectability with the practical utility that has kept Winchester gallery guns in demand for over a century.
