Savage Arms Fox Model B 20 Gauge Side-by-Side Shotgun, 28-Inch Barrels, Early Chicopee Falls Production
This early-production Fox Model B stands out with its Chicopee Falls address, forged steel receiver, and hand-cut walnut furniture—features prized by collectors because they disappeared on later cost-reduced runs. Chambered for 2 3/4-inch 20 gauge shells and fitted with 28-inch chrome-moly barrels choked Improved Cylinder and Improved Modified, it offers a balance of handling and pattern versatility that suits upland hunters and vintage shotgun enthusiasts alike.

What’s Included
- Savage Arms Fox Model B 20 Gauge side-by-side shotgun
The Fox Model B uses the proven Anson-and-Deeley boxlock action, the same durable design found in the Stevens 311. This example retains the color case-hardened finish on its forged steel receiver, accented by factory acid-etched border scroll engraving.
Both barrels are chrome-moly steel with a solid rib and a brass front bead. The Improved Cylinder (right) and Improved Modified (left) chokes provide a versatile spread for close to medium-range shots on birds or clays.
Traditional double triggers allow instant mechanical barrel selection, while the automatic tang safety engages each time the action is opened. Extractors lift spent shells for easy removal without flinging hulls.
The oil-finished walnut stock features a pistol grip, beavertail forend, hand-cut checkering, and a steel butt-plate. Length of pull measures 13.25 inches, giving many shooters a comfortable, quick-mounting feel.
Proofed “PROOF TESTED 20 GAUGE” and built in the USA before 1965, this Fox Model B represents one of the last mass-market American side-by-sides produced with traditional materials and craftsmanship.
