Ithaca M1911A1 .45 ACP WWII-Era Semi-Automatic Pistol, 5-Inch Barrel, Parkerized Finish
Produced in 1943, this Ithaca M1911A1 pairs an Ithaca-marked frame in the 893,000 serial range with a Remington Rand slide, reflecting the parts-sharing reality of wartime production. Retaining its original matte grey Parkerized finish, stamped cost-reduction small parts, and brown phenolic “Coltwood” grips, it offers collectors a correct, service-grade example of a mixed-maker World War II 1911. A single 7-round magazine and standard 5-inch barrel complete the classic Government configuration.

This pistol’s Ithaca-marked frame dates to mid-1943 production, confirmed by the 893,xxx serial block and a crisp external “P” proof ahead of the slide stop pin boss. During this period, Ithaca and Remington Rand frequently exchanged components, making the Remington Rand slide historically appropriate.
The slide wears vertical rear serrations and fixed GI sights, maintaining the no-nonsense configuration issued to U.S. forces. A wartime Parkerized finish covers both frame and slide, providing the corrosion resistance prioritized during mass production.
Stamped small parts—short trigger, checkered thumb safety, slide stop, and magazine catch—reflect the cost-saving measures instituted in 1943. Beneath, the arched mainspring housing retains its lanyard loop, a feature valued by service personnel.
Brown full-checkered phenolic grips, commonly called “Coltwood,” remain intact and provide period-correct texture without the fragility of earlier wood panels. The 5-inch carbon-steel barrel and single-action, short-recoil system preserve the dependable performance that defined the original Government Model.
