Remington Model 600 Magnum Carbine 6.5 Remington Magnum Bolt-Action Rifle, 18.5" Barrel (1967 Production)
This rare, early-production Model 600 Magnum Carbine stands out for its compact 18.5-inch barrel with a factory nylon ventilated rib, laminated hardwood Monte Carlo stock, and distinctive dog-leg bolt handle. Built in July 1967 during the Model 600’s short 1964–1968 run, it represents one of roughly 94,000 rifles produced before the line transitioned to the Model 660. Chambered in the fast 6.5 mm Remington Magnum and often cited as a precursor to Jeff Cooper’s Scout Rifle concept, this carbine is widely regarded as collectible while remaining fully practical for field use.

The 6.5 mm Remington Magnum chambering delivers flat trajectories from a compact platform, making this carbine both potent and easy to carry. The 18.5-inch chrome-moly barrel balances quick handling with efficient powder burn, and the nylon ventilated rib aids sight alignment while reducing glare.
Its laminated hardwood stock was advanced for the era, offering strength and stability against weather changes. A Monte Carlo comb, pistol grip, pressed arrow-style checkering, and ventilated rubber recoil pad produce a comfortable 13.75-inch length of pull and secure shoulder weld.
The unique dog-leg bolt handle speeds cycling while keeping the knob low over the trigger guard—one of the features that influenced later scout-style rifles. A four-round internal magazine preserves the slim profile, and drilled-and-tapped receiver holes accept the included scope mounts for optics flexibility.
With blued chrome-moly steel metalwork, clean bore, and its place in Remington’s innovative 1960s lineup, this Magnum Carbine holds strong appeal for shooters and collectors looking for an authentic piece of bolt-action history.
