Produced during the final year of M/28-30 manufacture, this rifle carries the gear-wheel “S” logo and SK Y proof, confirming Sako origin and Civil Guard issue. The boxed “SA” stamp documents its later absorption into Finnish Army stores, adding layered service history.
The 27-inch carbon-steel barrel is heavy-profile and free-floated with an aluminum fore-end spacer to maintain consistent harmonics. Combined with a “jam-free” magazine geometry unique to late Civil Guard production and a two-stage trigger with coil assist spring, the platform was engineered for match-grade accuracy.
Its birch stock features a full-length finger groove, side-mount sling hardware, and a free-float nose cap—details aimed at stability and field usability. Original blued finish remains uniform across the receiver, barrel, and bolt handle.
Sighting is handled by a protected blade front set between “pystykorva” ears and a large-wall tangent rear sight graduated from 150 to 2 000 meters. These precision sights, along with the barrel dynamics, influenced the later Finnish m/39 rifle.
