The 6-inch, ribbed, full-lug barrel adds forward weight, helping manage recoil and keeping sights on target for faster follow-up shots. The fiber-optic ramp front sight pairs with an adjustable square-notch rear sight for clear, precise aiming under varied lighting.
Constructed entirely of satin-stainless steel, the frame, barrel, and six-shot cylinder resist corrosion and simplify maintenance. Ruger’s transfer-bar safety allows the revolver to be carried with all six chambers loaded while preventing accidental discharge.
The exposed hammer supports both DA/SA operation, and the smooth combat trigger offers consistent, predictable pulls. A Hogue-style black rubber Monogrip wraps around Ruger’s peg-style grip frame, absorbing recoil and allowing easy grip swaps if desired.
This KGP-161 variant retains Ruger’s trademark triple-locking cylinder that locks at the front, rear, and bottom for added durability during heavy .357 Magnum use. The 2009 serial number places it among later third-generation GP100s, benefiting from incremental production refinements.
