Winchester Model 1400 Ranger 12 Gauge Semi-Auto Shotgun, 28-Inch Vent-Rib, 2 ¾ Inch Chamber
The Winchester Model 1400 Ranger pairs the company’s first-generation gas-operated action with a lighter alloy receiver and practical birch furniture. Built in New Haven during the mid-1980s, this late-production “N”-prefix gun retains the proven WinChoke system and a 28-inch vent-rib barrel set up for 2 ¾-inch 12 gauge loads. It offers reliable semi-automatic cycling in a trim package that reflects Winchester’s final decade of U.S. manufacturing.

What’s Included
- Winchester Model 1400 Ranger 12 Gauge shotgun
Winchester’s Ranger variant delivers the same gas-operated reliability found in the standard Model 1400 while trimming weight with an alloy receiver and birch stock set. Pressed checkering on the pistol-grip stock offers a secure hold without adding cost or weight.
The 28-inch steel barrel features a vent rib for quick target alignment and accepts WinChoke screw-in tubes; a CYL bore tube is currently installed. The brass bead front sight provides a clear, traditional sight picture.
Chambered for 2 ¾-inch shells, the action cycles everything from light field loads to heavier upland rounds. A cross-bolt safety at the trigger guard is quick to operate and familiar to most shooters.
The 14-inch length of pull suits a wide range of adult shooters, while the 2+1 capacity keeps the gun compliant with many migratory-bird regulations straight from the box.
