Product Description

Armi San Marco 1851 Navy “Confederate” Brass-Frame .44 Percussion Revolver – 7.5" Barrel, Roll-Engraved Cylinder, 1992 Italian Production

Made in 1992 by Armi San Marco, this brass-framed Model 1851 Navy reproduction captures the look and handling of the Confederate-issue variants carried during the American Civil War. The open-top design, polished brass frame, and roll-engraved naval battle scene on the cylinder give the revolver strong historical appeal, while its carbon-steel, octagonal 7.5-inch barrel and single-action percussion mechanism keep it range-ready for black-powder enthusiasts.

    Condition

Overall Condition: Good condition, showing some signs of prior use and handling.
Specific Condition Notes: Minor scratching, scuffing, and small blemishes are present on the metal surfaces and brass frame.
Bore Condition: Good – Clean, well-maintained, minor wear marks.
Bore Rifling: Good Rifling – Intact, well-defined lands and grooves.

    What’s Included

    • Armi San Marco factory cardboard box

This revolver follows the classic 1851 pattern with an open-top frame and external hammer, keeping weight balanced and lock-time crisp. The polished brass frame reflects the cost-saving measure adopted by Confederate manufacturers, making this variant especially interesting to collectors of Civil War reproductions.

The blued carbon-steel cylinder bears a factory roll engraving of the Battle of Campeche (16 May 1843), a detail shared with original Colt Navies and executed here at the Gardone Val Trompia facility. Italian CIP star/PN proofs and the Gardone proof-house crest confirm its 1992 manufacture and compliance with modern safety standards.

Armi San Marco ceased operations around 2000, so all of its percussion revolvers are now out of production. This makes an early-1990s example like this one increasingly scarce on the secondary market, especially in good mechanical condition with sharp rifling and clear engraving.

The 7.5-inch octagonal barrel offers the traditional sighting radius of the Navy design, paired with a dovetailed brass bead front sight and a hammer-nose notch rear. A varnished one-piece walnut grip completes the period-correct profile while providing a secure, comfortable hold.
