WHAT’S INCLUDED
- Issac Bissel flintlock blunderbuss as described
The 14-inch barrel is octagonal at the breech, transitions to round, and ends in a bell-mouthed flare—an authentic “cannon” profile intended to speed reloads and spread shot. London Crown-over-“V” and Crown-over-“P” proof marks are clearly stamped on the left flat, verifying 18th-century proof and enhancing provenance.
The side-lock is signed “BISSELL” and framed by scroll engraving that continues onto the brass trigger guard, ramrod pipes, and butt plate. Factory engraving of this quality was reserved for higher-grade arms, underscoring the piece’s collectible status.
A swan-neck cock, bridled frizzen, and fenced pan reflect late-period flintlock improvements aimed at reliability. Despite age-related wear, the lock cycles correctly, making the arm a functional representative of its era.
The full-length, one-piece walnut stock shows relief shell carving behind the barrel tang and crisp molding along its edges. A 13.5-inch length of pull offers authentic feel, while the absence of fixed sights aligns with traditional blunderbuss design meant for close-range defense.
