Izhmash Saiga IZ-132 7.62x39 Pre-Ban Converted AKM-Style Semi-Automatic Rifle
Built at Russia’s famed Izhmash factory and imported before the 2014 sanctions, this Saiga IZ-132 has been professionally converted from its original sporting trim back to a classic AKM configuration. It retains the factory-chrome-lined 16.3 in barrel, accepts standard 30-round magazines, and features a side-mounted optics rail. An aftermarket left-side folding tubular stock, relocated trigger group, and 14×1 LH threaded muzzle with slotted flash hider give this pre-ban rifle the look and handling characteristics collectors and shooters expect from a Russian AK-pattern carbine.

What’s Included
- Izhmash Saiga IZ-132 7.62x39 rifle (converted to AKM configuration)
- One Magpul PMAG AK/AKM 30-round polymer magazine
This rifle left Izhmash in 2004 with the same stamped steel receiver and long-stroke gas system used on Russian AK-103 production lines. Russian proof marks, Cyrillic “САЙГА” model designation, and the factory import stamp remain clear on the receiver.
The U.S. conversion replaces the original sporter stock with a black tubular steel side-folder wrapped in foam for a stable cheek weld. The trigger group has been moved forward to the correct AKM position, and the former trigger pin holes are neatly covered by a metal plate.
A 14×1 LH threaded muzzle hosts a slotted flash hider, and the chrome-lined barrel helps resist corrosion during extended shooting sessions. Polymer handguards with longitudinal cooling ribs keep weight down while maintaining the traditional profile.
As a pre-ban Russian import, this Saiga is no longer available from new production sources. Its factory side-mounted rail accepts standard Warsaw Pact optics mounts, offering flexible sighting options for range or field use.
