This BN-36 configuration features a 6.5-inch alloy-steel barrel with a 1-in-16 RH twist, giving the revolver solid ballistic performance and manageable recoil. The fluted six-shot cylinder accepts both .357 Magnum and .38 Special cartridges, adding versatility for target work or field carry.
The investment-cast alloy-steel frame and coil-spring internals are known for durability, an attribute that sets the Blackhawk apart from many contemporaries. The blued finish on the frame, barrel, and cylinder retains a uniform appearance, complemented by one-piece black checkered synthetic grips wearing gold Ruger medallions.
Ruger’s transfer-bar safety system and loading-gate interlock provide an added margin of security while still preserving the traditional single-action manual of arms. The spur hammer, smooth trigger, and micro-click adjustable rear sight allow precise control and accurate shot placement.
Mid-1980s Blackhawks like this example were produced before internal locks and billboard warning markings appeared, a detail appreciated by many Ruger enthusiasts. The 36- serial prefix confirms 1985 manufacture, placing this revolver firmly in the early New Model era.
