Marlin XL7W .270 Win. Bolt-Action Rifle – Laminated Monte Carlo Stock, 22-Inch Button-Rifled Barrel, 4+1 Capacity
The Marlin XL7W pairs the company’s proven XL7 action with a gloss-walnut laminated stock, creating a wood-stocked variant produced only from 2009 until the model’s discontinuation in 2014. Chambered in .270 Winchester, this rifle features a 22-inch 4140 steel barrel with a recessed crown and button rifling, an adjustable Pro-Fire trigger, and factory rails for quick scope mounting. Its short production run, solid construction, and accuracy-oriented design make it a standout option for shooters who appreciate a traditional look backed by modern engineering.

This XL7W is part of Marlin’s North Haven production, as indicated by the “REP” proof mark. The two-lug, push-feed bolt uses a fluted body, plunger ejector, and sliding extractor for smooth cycling and reliable extraction.
The 22-inch 4140 steel barrel is secured with a barrel-nut headspacing system similar to Savage rifles, allowing precise factory headspacing. Button rifling, a 1:10 RH twist, and a recessed crown work together to promote consistent accuracy with .270 Winchester loads.
Marlin’s user-adjustable Pro-Fire trigger can be factory-set between 2.5 and 6 pounds and incorporates a blade safety for an extra measure of security without adding pull weight.
The gloss-finished laminated hardwood Monte Carlo stock is pillar-bedded to the action, reducing movement under recoil and enhancing repeatability. Cut checkering, a black rubber recoil pad, and a rear sling swivel stud round out the stock’s practical touches.
Factory rails and drilled-and-tapped mounting points make it simple to add optics, while the integral blind magazine holds four rounds plus one in the chamber, keeping the rifle’s lines clean and weight balanced.
