Product Description

    Remington Model 12A Pump-Action .22 S/L/LR Takedown Rifle — 1913 Production, Blued Steel & Walnut

Remington’s Model 12A is one of the earliest successful slide-action rimfire rifles, and this example dates to late 1913. Designed by John D. Pedersen, the takedown design, forged steel receiver, and versatile .22 Short, Long, or Long Rifle chambering made the Model 12 a favorite among American shooters from 1909 through the 1930s. Its compact 20-inch barrel, 10-round tubular magazine, and straight-grip walnut stock give it the classic look and handling that collectors recognize immediately.

    Condition

    Overall Condition: Poor.

Bore Condition: Fair – generally clean with some residue and slight corrosion.

Rifling: Fair – worn rifling with slight loss of definition.

    Mechanics: Will not fire.

There are moderate scratches, scuffs, pitting, and other blemishes across the metal surfaces. The walnut stock and ribbed slide handle show heavy finish wear and handling marks.

    What’s Included

    • Remington Model 12A pump-action rifle (no other accessories)

Introduced in 1909, the Model 12A combined Remington’s forged steel receiver with a carbon-steel takedown barrel, allowing easy transport and cleaning. This rifle retains its original 20-inch round barrel and full-length tubular magazine, providing a 10 + 1 capacity with .22 Short, Long, or Long Rifle cartridges.

The straight-grip walnut buttstock is fitted with a “REMINGTON UMC” hard-rubber buttplate, a feature found only on rifles made between the 1912 merger and the late 1910s. The ribbed walnut slide handle matches the stock and delivers the familiar Model 12 pump feel.

Factory open sights include a dovetailed blade front and an elevation-adjustable semi-buckhorn rear. An “RW” inspector stamp appears on the receiver, indicating an early Remington repair or proof mark.

Serial number 211XXX places production in late 1913, firmly within the desirable early run manufactured between 1909 and 1920. Despite its non-functional status, it remains a tangible piece of Pedersen’s influential design work and Remington’s rimfire history.
