Ruger Single-Six Old Model 3-Screw Convertible Revolver | .22 LR / .22 WMR, 6.5-Inch Barrel, 1970 Production
This 1970 Ruger Single-Six Old Model 3-Screw Convertible offers the classic pre-1973 action that many collectors seek. Built in Newport, New Hampshire, it comes with both .22 LR and .22 WMR fluted cylinders and retains the original no-transfer-bar design. A 6.5-inch chrome-moly steel barrel, blued finish, and walnut grip panels with Ruger medallions complete its period-correct appeal.
Condition
Overall Condition: Fair condition, showing extensive signs of prior use and handling.
Bore Condition: Fair – Generally clean, some residue or smudges, slight corrosion.
Bore Rifling: Fair Rifling – Worn rifling, slight loss of definition.
Specific Condition Notes: Scuffs and finish wear are visible across the frame, barrel, and grip frame. The revolver cycles properly with the .22 WMR cylinder, but the action does not function when the .22 LR cylinder is installed.

Ruger produced the Old Model Single-Six from 1953 to 1973, and this 20-prefix example dates to 1970. It still features the original three-screw lockwork without the later transfer-bar conversion, maintaining the traditional half-cock loading notch and trigger feel prized by enthusiasts.
The convertible twin-cylinder system lets the shooter switch between readily available .22 LR and the hotter .22 WMR cartridge. Both cylinders are factory fluted steel units finished to match the revolver’s deep blue.
A 6.5-inch chrome-moly steel barrel provides a long sight radius and balances well in the hand. Fixed blade front and notch rear sights are standard for this model, keeping the lines clean and snag-free.
The blued chrome-moly frame is paired with an alloy backstrap and trigger guard—an original feature that helped reduce weight on these later Old Model guns. Walnut grip panels with inset Ruger silver medallions add a period-correct touch.
This Single-Six represents a true piece of Ruger history, retaining its factory configuration and collectible Old Model characteristics.
