MAS Modèle 1949-56 P72 Arsenal-Refurbished 7.5×54mm French Semi-Automatic Rifle
Manufactured between 1958 and 1960 and later overhauled during France’s 1972 “P72” program, this MAS 49/56 combines Cold War production with an official arsenal refurbishment. The result is a clean, service-grade rifle that retains its original military features—integral muzzle brake, rifle-grenade spigot, and quick-detach APX optic rail—while benefiting from a thorough factory reconditioning.

What’s Included
- 1x 10-round original MAS 49/56 steel magazine
- Leather sling (installed)
This rifle is chambered in the original 7.5×54mm French cartridge and feeds from detachable 10-round box magazines, maintaining the configuration issued to French forces from 1957 through the late 1970s.
The P72 arsenal program replaced worn parts, refinished metal surfaces in phosphate and black enamel, and re-sealed hardwood stocks, returning each rifle to reliable service standards. This example bears the square “P72” mark confirming that work.
A quick-detach APX optic rail is factory-installed on the left receiver wall, allowing easy mounting of period-correct scopes without altering the rifle.
The two-position gas cut-off within the folding grenade ladder sight lets the shooter instantly switch between normal semi-automatic fire and launching rifle grenades, while the integral muzzle brake and spigot complete the rifle’s dual-role design.
Century Arms’ discreet import stamp sits on the barrel, documenting lawful U.S. entry while leaving the original French markings clear and legible.
