Uberti 1874 Sharps “Down Under” .45-70 Govt. Single-Shot Rifle, 34" Octagon Barrel, Color Case Hardened Frame
Uberti’s 1874 Sharps Down Under rifle is a factory tribute to the long-range rifle featured in the film “Quigley Down Under.” Built in Italy with modern steel, it blends period-correct styling—pewter forend cap, patch-box, and color case hardened receiver—with competition-ready accuracy in the proven .45-70 Govt. chambering. Its 34-inch octagonal barrel, double set triggers, and ladder rear sight make it a capable choice for 1,000-yard black-powder cartridge matches or serious range work.

What’s Included
- Hard gun case
The 34-inch steel barrel is octagonal for authentic Sharps styling and features a recessed crown to protect the rifling. A 1:20 right-hand twist stabilizes heavy .45-70 bullets, while the drift-adjustable front blade and ladder rear sight provide precise elevation adjustments out to extreme distances.
Uberti fits this rifle with double set triggers. The rear trigger “sets” the front trigger for a light, crisp break—an advantage when shooting from sandbags or cross-sticks. The external hammer and single-shot falling-block action remain true to the 19th-century Sharps design yet are machined from modern steel, allowing the safe use of standard smokeless .45-70 Govt. loads.
The color case hardened frame, lever, and hammer contrast with the deep blued barrel for a classic finish. Checkered walnut furniture includes a straight-grip stock with patch-box and a beavertail fore-end capped in pewter, echoing custom features on original buffalo rifles. Length of pull measures 14 inches for a traditional fit.
The tang is drilled and tapped for a Creedmoor-style long-range sight, making the rifle competition-ready for events like the Matthew Quigley Buffalo Rifle Match. A. UBERTI – ITALY roll-marks confirm its heritage and quality craftsmanship.
