Browning BPS Trap 12 Gauge Pump Shotgun, 30" Vent-Rib Barrel, Fixed Full Choke, 2 3/4" Chamber
This early-production Browning BPS Trap model combines the platform’s ambidextrous bottom-loading/ejection design with features tailored for ATA trap shooting. Built in Japan during the late 1970s, it sports a 30" vent-rib barrel with a fixed Full choke, a forged steel receiver finished in high-gloss blue, and gloss walnut furniture with a Monte Carlo comb. A factory magazine cut-off and installed 2+1 capacity plug round out a purpose-built target gun that sees limited availability today.

What’s Included
- Browning gun case
The BPS’s bottom-loading and bottom-ejecting action keeps empty hulls out of the shooter’s line of sight and works equally well for right- or left-handed users.
A forged, billet-machined steel receiver and twin heat-treated action bars provide smooth cycling and long-term durability—key traits for a gun that may see high round counts on the trap line.
The 30" carbon-steel barrel carries a ventilated rib for a clear sighting plane and is bored with a factory fixed Full choke, optimizing pattern density for 16-yard and handicap trap disciplines. Chambered strictly for 2 3/4" shells, this early variant predates Browning’s later multi-choke models and is sought after by traditionalists.
A Monte Carlo walnut stock with cut checkering delivers a 14.0" length of pull and a comfortable cheek weld for rising targets. The single-stage gold-colored trigger offers a crisp break, while the magazine cut-off lets the shooter load a single round without feeding from the tube—handy for switching loads during practice.
Complete with its original Browning hard case and a factory-installed 2+1 capacity plug for ATA compliance, this BPS Trap stands out as a well-cared-for example of a short-run, fixed-choke model.
