Colt Junior .22 Short Pre-Ban Micro Pistol, 1961 Production, Blued, Scarce Variant
Produced in 1961, this Colt-marked Junior .22 Short is one of fewer than 25,000 assembled by Astra in Spain before the 1968 Gun Control Act halted importation of compact “non-sporting” handguns. Its micro size, pre-ban status, and low production numbers make it a sought-after piece for Colt enthusiasts and pocket-pistol collectors alike.

What's Included
- Colt Junior .22 Short pistol
- One 6-round steel single-stack magazine
Scarcer than the more common .25 ACP version, this .22 Short variant was imported prior to the 1968 ban, adding historical and collectible value. The serial prefix “176” places manufacture firmly in 1961.
Both frame and slide are machined from carbon steel and carry a rich factory blued finish. Checkered walnut grips with silver Rampant Colt medallions provide secure purchase and classic Colt styling.
The 2.25-inch barrel and micro dimensions make the Junior one of Colt’s smallest autos. An exposed hammer with integral lanyard loop, heel-type magazine release, and fixed integral sights reflect the original Astra Model Cub design on which this pistol is based.
Internally, the single-action blowback mechanism is simple and reliable. A thumb safety and magazine disconnect add functional security, while shared parts compatibility with Astra Cubs aids future service or restoration.
