Davis Industries Model D38 Big Bore D-Series .38 Special Derringer, 2.75" Barrel, 2-Shot, Black Finish
This Davis Industries Model D38 is a compact, two-shot derringer from the company’s Big Bore D-Series introduced in 1992. Chambered in .38 Special, it combines pocket-sized dimensions with a larger-caliber punch. The black Teflon-type finish over a Zamak frame and barrel gives it a uniform, corrosion-resistant look, while fixed sights and a vent rib keep the profile low and simple. Made in the United States during the 1990s, this example remains in excellent condition with a clean, mirror-bright bore.

The Model D38 uses a classic over/under barrel layout with a manual extractor for quick removal of spent cases. Its single-action mechanism is paired with an external spur hammer that offers positive thumb control.
A cross-bolt safety blocks the hammer when engaged, adding a straightforward layer of security without complicating the manual of arms. Fixed blade front and rear sighting groove provide snag-free aiming appropriate for close-range use.
Zamak (zinc-alloy) construction keeps the pistol lightweight while the black Teflon-type coating resists wear and moisture. Black synthetic grip panels offer a secure hold despite the derringer’s micro footprint.
This firearm represents the affordable, large-bore pocket pistols produced by the so-called “Ring of Fire” manufacturers in the 1990s, making it a distinct piece for collectors interested in that era of American handgun production.
