Built on a large-ring FN Mauser action made for Venezuela between 1936 and 1939, this bolt-action rifle has been thoughtfully sporterized for modern field use. The 19-inch barrel, aftermarket Monte-Carlo walnut stock, and installed scope bases give it a handy profile while retaining the controlled-feed reliability and matching receiver-to-barrel numbers of the original contract gun. Chambered in the classic 7 mm Mauser cartridge, it combines Belgian craftsmanship with period-correct American sporter styling.

Overall Condition: Good condition, showing some signs of prior use and handling.

Specific Condition Notes: Light finish loss and handling marks are visible on the receiver and barrel. The walnut stock shows scattered scuffs but remains structurally sound. Markings and proof stamps are clear and legible.

This rifle starts with a Belgian-made, large-ring Mauser action bearing the Venezuelan national crest and matching serial numbers on the receiver and barrel. Belgian ELG oval proofs and crown-over-letter stamps confirm its 1930s FN origin.
The barrel has been professionally shortened to 19 inches, giving the rifle quicker handling without sacrificing the 7×57 mm cartridge’s mild recoil and proven ballistics. A ramp front blade remains in place, while the original rear sight has been removed in favor of the installed scope bases.
An aftermarket walnut Monte-Carlo stock provides a raised cheek-piece, wrap-around checkering, ebony tip and grip caps, and a Pachmayr White Line ventilated recoil pad. Sling-swivel studs are already fitted, making the rifle ready for a hunting sling.
The controlled-feed two-lug bolt retains its original in-the-white finish and incorporates FN’s three-position flag safety and a third safety lug. The hinged-floorplate internal magazine carries four rounds with one in the chamber for a 4+1 capacity.
Overall, this sporter reflects mid-20th-century American customization while preserving the quality and history of an FN Venezuelan-contract Mauser action—now equipped with modern optics capability.
