Sako AIII Finnbear 7mm Rem. Mag. Bolt-Action Rifle | Transitional 1978–1981 Production
This Finnish-made Sako AIII Finnbear pairs a forged chrome-moly steel receiver with a 24" sporter-contour barrel, both finished in high-polish blue. Built during the short 1978–1981 transitional run that preceded the AV revision, it features the integral 17 mm tapered dovetail scope rail, a controlled-feed claw extractor, and a crisp single-stage trigger. Collectors value these AIII actions for their scarce production window and classic pre-Beretta craftsmanship.

Produced in Finland, this rifle represents the final evolution of Sako’s long-action Finnbear before the AV designation. The early-run serial number confirms it as a true transitional AIII, making it a desirable piece for both shooters and Sako enthusiasts.
The chrome-moly barrel and receiver carry the high-polish blue finish that set late-1970s Sakos apart for fit and luster. Finnish proof and inspection marks remain clear and sharp, underscoring factory originality.
An internal three-round staggered magazine with a hinged floorplate allows quick unloading, while the hinged release is recessed inside the guard bow for secure field handling.
The Monte Carlo walnut stock wears its original gloss lacquer and incorporates a raised comb, cheekpiece, and a comfortable pistol-grip palm swell. Length of pull measures 13.6", giving most shooters a traditional field fit.
