Smith & Wesson 4026 .40 S&W – All-Stainless, Frame-Decocker, 1990s Production
Produced for only a brief run from 1991 to 1993, the Smith & Wesson 4026 is one of the rarer third-generation pistols. Its all-stainless construction, frame-mounted decocker, and scarce production numbers make it attractive to both shooters and collectors looking for a durable, low-recoil full-size .40 S&W.

What’s Included

The 4026 is built entirely from stainless steel, giving it a solid feel and helping tame .40 S&W recoil. The matte finish on both frame and slide resists glare and hides handling marks.
A frame-mounted decocker sets this model apart from most S&W third-gen pistols, which typically use slide-mounted levers. This design keeps controls low and intuitive for double-action/single-action operation.
Forward-swept rear slide serrations offer a positive grasp, while fixed three-dot sights—dovetailed front blade and low-mount Novak-style rear—provide a clean sight picture.
Safety features include a magazine disconnect and firing pin block, adding mechanical layers of security without affecting the crisp SA trigger break. The external spur hammer allows easy manual decocking if desired.
Low production numbers and the unique four-digit model code (denoting caliber, decocker placement, and stainless build) place the 4026 among the more collectible S&W autos from the 1990s.
