Colt Government Model MK IV Series 70 1911, .45 ACP, Satin Nickel, 5-inch Barrel – 1980 Manufacture
This 1980-dated Colt Government Model MK IV Series 70 is a full-size 1911 chambered in .45 ACP, factory finished in satin nickel with contrasting blued small parts. It retains the Series 70 four-finger “Accurizer” collet bushing and lacks the later Series 80 firing-pin safety, making it attractive to collectors who value classic Colt engineering. The pistol offers the traditional single-action trigger, fixed iron sights, and the recognizable spur hammer, all in a configuration that represents Colt’s flagship sidearm of the era.

What’s Included
- Colt Government Model MK IV Series 70 .45 ACP pistol
- One unmarked stainless steel 7-round GI-pattern magazine with welded flat base
Colt introduced the Series 70 in 1970, adding the proprietary “Accurizer” collet bushing to improve barrel-to-slide lockup. This pistol retains that four-finger bushing, a feature collectors often seek because it was discontinued in later production.
The factory satin nickel finish offers a muted sheen that contrasts with the blued slide stop, thumb safety, and magazine release—an original Colt aesthetic of the period. Checkered black plastic grips with gold Colt medallions complete the look and provide secure purchase.
True to the Government Model pattern, this handgun uses a 5-inch carbon-steel barrel, full-length steel frame, and single-action operation. Fixed sights consist of a ramped front blade and a square-notch rear, giving a sight picture consistent with service 1911s.
Safety features include the traditional grip safety, left-side thumb safety, and an inertial firing pin. With its 7+1 capacity, reliable single-stack magazine, and classic 1911 ergonomics, this Series 70 remains a functional shooter as well as a collectible piece of Colt history.
