Browning B-80 Field 20 Gauge Semi-Automatic Shotgun, 24.75" Vent-Rib Barrel, 1982 Production
This 1982 Browning B-80 Field represents Browning’s first reliable gas-operated autoloader, built on the proven Beretta 300-series system and assembled by FN in Portugal. The shotgun features an uncommon 24.75-inch vent-rib barrel with a fixed Cylinder choke, a lightweight alloy receiver, and a gold-plated trigger that highlights its early-1980s Browning heritage. Collectors will appreciate the short production span (1981–1987) and the oval “PB” proof marking that confirms its Italian-made special-steel barrel.

What’s Included
- Browning B-80 Field 20 Gauge semi-automatic shotgun
The gas-operated action mirrors Beretta’s 302/303 design, delivering smooth cycling and straightforward parts compatibility. This collaboration gave Browning a lightweight, soft-shooting 20 gauge suited to upland hunting and clay work alike.
The 24.75-inch special-steel barrel is shorter than the more common 26- or 28-inch versions, making this example handier in the field. The fixed Cylinder choke pairs well with the brass bead sight for quick target acquisition at closer ranges.
A gloss-blued alloy receiver keeps weight down while maintaining the classic Browning look. The matching gloss-finished walnut stock features sharp checkering and a Browning-marked rubber recoil pad, yielding a 14-inch length of pull.
Proof marks include the oval “PB” on the barrel and the PATENT-ITALY-3420140 stamp, confirming the Italian origin of the barrel before final assembly at FN’s Portuguese facility. The serial number prefix “PY” verifies 1982 manufacture.
