Remington Model 12C Pump-Action .22 S/L/LR Rimfire Rifle – 24" Octagon Barrel, 1928 Manufacture
This 1928 Remington Model 12C is a takedown pump-action rimfire rifle chambered for .22 Short, Long, and Long Rifle cartridges. It combines John D. Pedersen’s reliable action with a 24-inch octagonal barrel, straight walnut stock, and 17-groove pump handle. The octagon-barrel, straight-stock configuration is less common in Model 12 production, adding collector interest to this well-kept example.

What’s Included
- Remington Model 12C pump-action rifle (serial 715 xxx, manufactured 1928)
The Model 12’s takedown design lets the rifle separate into barrel and receiver assemblies for easy transport or cleaning without tools. Despite its compact breakdown size, the rifle offers a full 24-inch barrel, maximizing sight radius and velocity from .22 rimfire rounds.
Pedersen’s internal-hammer pump action cycles .22 Short, Long, and Long Rifle interchangeably, feeding from a 10-round tubular magazine plus one in the chamber. This versatility made the Model 12 a favored small-game and target rifle for decades.
Factory open sights consist of a small bead front and a dovetailed rear notch, both set low on the octagonal barrel. If desired, the existing receiver holes accept a modern aperture or scope base without further modification.
The straight-grip walnut stock measures a 13 inches length of pull and ends in a steel crescent butt-plate marked “REMINGTON UMC” and “MODEL 12.” Together with the finely grooved walnut pump handle, the rifle retains the classic styling valued by collectors.
