Volunteer Enterprises Commando MK 45 .45 ACP Semi-Automatic Carbine – 16-Inch Thompson-Style Rifle
The Volunteer Enterprises Commando MK 45 is a civilian, semi-automatic homage to the famed Thompson submachine gun, built in the United States during the late 1970s and early 1980s. It keeps the classic Thompson profile while using a simple blowback action, a 16-inch barrel to stay outside NFA short-barrel regulations, and readily available Thompson stick magazines. A polymer lower mates to a blued steel upper, with hardwood furniture that includes a fixed buttstock and a vertical fore-grip.

What’s Included
- Volunteer Enterprises Commando MK 45 semi-automatic carbine
- One Thompson-pattern detachable box magazine
The MK 45 keeps the unmistakable Thompson silhouette while eliminating the complexities of the original delayed-blowback system. A straightforward blowback design paired with .45 ACP offers reliable cycling when the feed ramp is intact and simplifies maintenance.
Its 16-inch carbon-steel barrel delivers the classic look without requiring NFA registration. Fixed iron sights—a blade front and notch rear—provide a period-correct sight picture.
The blued steel receiver contrasts with a matte-black polymer lower, trimming weight compared to an all-steel build. Walnut-stained hardwood furniture adds traditional appeal and includes a sling swivel on the stock for easy carry.
A left-side charging handle mirrors the Thompson layout, and the carbine accepts standard Thompson stick magazines, making spare magazines and accessories straightforward to source.
