Remington Model 591M Bolt-Action Rifle in 5 mm Remington Rimfire Magnum, 21-Inch Barrel, Walnut Stock
Produced for only four years in the early 1970s, the Remington Model 591M is one of just two factory rifles ever chambered for the high-velocity 5 mm Remington Rimfire Magnum. Its six-lug bolt head, blued steel receiver with integral 3/8-inch scope grooves, and Monte Carlo walnut stock give this full-size bolt gun a distinct place in rimfire history. Limited to roughly 27,000 units, examples in clean condition—especially those retaining their original blued finish like this one—remain desirable to shooters and collectors alike.

What’s Included
- Remington Model 591M bolt-action rifle (no magazine included)
This Model 591M retains its factory 21-inch barrel and original blued finish, pairing classic looks with the flat-shooting 5 mm RRM cartridge. The unique six-lug bolt locks up solidly—an uncommon design feature among rimfire rifles—and operates with the smooth, short throw that made the model popular.
The walnut stock features a Monte-Carlo comb, fine cut checkering, and a 13.5-inch length of pull, offering a comfortable cheek weld for scoped or iron-sight shooting. A two-position thumb safety and single-stage trigger provide straightforward, familiar controls.
Collectors will appreciate the visible “REP” oval proof and date code “G” on the barrel, confirming original Remington factory production. The receiver’s factory-machined 3/8-inch grooves make it simple to mount rimfire rings without additional bases.
Original detachable plastic magazines for the Model 591M are scarce on today’s market; this rifle is offered without a magazine, allowing the buyer to source the configuration of their choice.
